Watching The 4400

BuddyTV.com has a great exclusive interview with Patrick Flueger, everyone’s favorite healer boy, Shawn Farrell, both as a mp3 and full transcript on their site.

He doesn’t really go into detail with this season, spoiler-wise, but I do like his outlook on his character when it comes to a difference of opinion between how he plays a scene and how they’ve written it.

Are there ever times that you wish that your character Shawn was going in a different direction and if stuff like that happens do you ever have any say in it? Do you get to talk to the writers at all?

I don’t know. I guess I mean I have my say in it in the way that I play the character and they’re planning to take me one way but I just maybe play a pivotal scene in a different way than I thought I would so they have to go on different direction with it but as far as I’m sitting down and laying out an overall plan, I don’t have a say in that. I mean I basically have no clue what’s gonna happen in it until I get the next script.

What we do here every Monday is spotlight an actor, just to show y’all what these great actors are doing outside of the show. Our next actor is Patrick Flueger, who plays the healer who seems to always get in over his head, Shawn Farrell.

A quick review of his acting resume on Patrick’s IMDB profile shows that while he’s not been acting for all that long, he’s slowly but surely garnered attention, from his debut in the Princess Diaries (2001), or opposite Sir Anthony Hopkins in The World’s Fastest Indian (2005) to a role in a recent indie film, You Are Here (2006) along with guest spots on CSI: Miami and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. He is also an accomplished musician, like Jacquie McKenzie, playing in a band called Sleeper 7.

He received his big break when he auditioned for the 2001 family hit, The Princess Diaries. He and four others competed for the leading male role, but that part went to Robert Schwartzman. Patrick made his mark with director, Garry Marshall, though, and Marshall wrote him a part as Jeremiah, a fun-loving card-trick master who charmed the lead character’s best friend.

Flueger is a graduate of Red Wing High School and has two younger siblings.

The 4400 Guide posted that the 4400 Soundtrack finally has a release date of April 24, 2007 via Amazon.com. While they don’t have any track listings yet, the 4400 Guide says that you can find a sample from Jacqueline McKenzie’s contribution to the album on her official site. I’m really impressed by it, and I hope that this means that even more of the cast members who are talented artists (like Patrick Flueger and Chad Faust) will be contributing tracks to the album.
