Watching The 4400

Dragoncon was an absolute blast, but of course, that meant that I didn’t get a chance to watch the 4400 yesterday. Hopefully I’ll get a chance sometime tomorrow to watch it and post my First Thoughts, as I can’t tonight since I’ll be on Shaun’s BlogTalkRadio Show. Check it out tonight at 10pm ET (7pm PT).

Well, I was trying to make it to the 4400 panel that they were having here, but due to the hotel and elevators getting stuck, I completely missed it. One thing that I thought was very cool was that walking around the exhibition halls earlier, waiting for my room to be ready and for my first Jericho panel to start, I saw a couple walking around with blue “Promicin Positive” tshirts. I didn’t have my camera on me, but I’ll pay attention as I’m walking about this weekend and see if I can catch them again.

Anyway, back to the insanity downstairs.

In my searches to bring y’all news and tidbits on the 4400, I came across an interesting article on Vancouver which is known as “Hollywood North” in most production circles.

The bustling Canadian city is surrounded by the spectacular scenery that is part of British Columbia, drawing a multitude of productions looking for the ideal locations. Plus the great exchange rate of the Canadian dollar helps the production budgets go further. And Vancouver draws lots of tourists for the same reasons.

Dozens and dozens of movies, miniseries, documentaries, comedies and dramas have been shooting there since the beginning of the year. They follow in the footsteps of the X-Files which set up camp during most of its nine seasons on the air.

Vancouver’s also gotten a rise in tourist industries simply from the people wanting to come and see where their favorite shows and films are being made, which is probably a blessing and curse for both the city and the production teams out there.

For an added thrill, star-spotting is a favorite past time in downtown Vancouver, especially on fashionable Robson Street. It’s where street-side cafés and restaurants have become the trendy hangouts for showbiz folks, enjoying a breath of fresh air in Hollywood North.

So, if you’re planning on going someplace to do some great “celebrity sighting”, Vancouver is the place to be!

As I’ve stated elsewhere, I adore fan fiction. While I don’t want to get involved in the pro fiction versus fan fiction argument, fan fiction for anything that I’ve fallen in love with gets me through those times, such as in between seasons, where I can keep up with my favorite characters and favorite worlds when there’s nothing new coming through official channels.

One of the first places I go when I’m looking for decent fan fiction is fanfiction.net, and they have a wonderfully large section devoted to the 4400. And while I don’t have anything in that section, I do have some things posted on that site for some other fandoms.

4400 Abductees, a fan forum, also has some great fan fiction on their forum topic devoted to it, and the 4400 Center also has some really good offerings.

So, I’m working on ideas for a giveaway on this site, because I ended up with some interesting 4400 merchandise that I’m dying to get some more feedback on this site.

Meanwhile, though, I’d love to hear from y’all who are your favorite characters from the show. You can pick any of the cast, or even a recurring character from the series. You can see a complete list at the show’s IMDB profile to help jog your memory. I’d love to hear why they’re your favorite character, not just which one.

Who’s my favorite? Well, while I adore Sean, I’d have to go with Alana, because not only is her power exceedingly cool, but her devotion to both Tom and the Cause of the 4400 would tear most people in two.

When I first started writing over here at Watching the 4400, I automatically logged onto Boxxet.com to take a look at what they had to offer in regards to the show. I was disappointed that they didn’t have a 4400 section at all, and like a good internet user, I emailed them feedback asking when they were going to be adding a section for this great show.

Well, today I received an email from them saying that they had opened up a new section of their site devoted to the 4400, though they hadn’t a lot of information on it currently. That’s where y’all come in, though.

What I’d love for you to do is go on over to Boxxet’s 4400 section and start submitting news items to them. Of course, I’d love it if y’all would use the articles on this site, but to help out their community, I’d just like to see it fill up as soon as possible.

So, go on over there and let them know what you find interesting on the web in regards to the 4400, ok?

The 4400 Guide has been giving us sections of their extended interview with Chad Faust from their recent set visit, and in one they talked about the “coming Promicin War“, which just the phrase intrigues me. They asked Chad Faust, who plays Kyle Baldwin, in particular about the fact that the government has made it illegal to have taken promicin, which should definitely make things interesting in the coming season.

4400Guide: You mentioned getting turned in for promicin, so is that going to be illegal now?
CF: Yeah, if you get caught having taken promicin, or being in possession of it, you go to jail for life. With no trial. Of course, I’m all against that. One, because I have taken it. And two, because I think it’s a violation of human rights.

So, my question to y’all is, if given the chance, would you be one of those that would play Russian Roulette with your life by taking Promicin, with that 50/50 chance at dying?
